How to use PDF tools without uploads

Choose a file, use the tool and save the result. Rebuildfree does the document work in your browser; it does not send the file to a processing server.

Where processing happens

Your browser reads the file you choose and your device carries out the editing, conversion or other task. The tool then prepares a new file for you to download.

The selected document is not sent to Rebuildfree or another document-processing service. That applies to its pages, extracted text and finished output as well as the original file.

  • Choose the file on your device.
  • Keep the tab open while the tool works.
  • Save the result before leaving the tool.

Understand local recovery

The PDF editor can keep a recovery draft in this browser so you can reopen work after an interruption. That draft belongs to the browser profile on this device; it is not a copy held by Rebuildfree.

On a shared device, a person using the same profile may be able to reopen that draft. Save your finished file, then use Close document to clear the editor's work when you are done. Clearing site data also removes local recovery drafts.

  • Closing a browser tab is different from clearing a recovery draft.
  • A recovery draft is not a reliable backup of your finished document.
  • Keep your own saved copy before clearing browser data.

Know what still uses the network

The website needs to load its pages, scripts and fonts. OCR may also download a language file. These requests carry site resources, not your selected document or its filename.

The host receives ordinary connection information, including your IP address and browser headers. Ads and analytics make separate requests. Analytics runs by default outside the EEA, UK and Switzerland; within those regions, consent controls storage. The privacy policy explains this, and the footer contains privacy choices.

  • Site files and OCR language data may arrive over the network.
  • Site, advertising and analytics requests do not include your document's contents.
  • Opening a file from a cloud-storage provider is a separate exchange governed by that provider.

Save a copy you can find again

No account is needed. The result goes to your browser's download folder or another location you select. Rebuildfree does not keep a backup, so find the file and open it before closing the tool.

Downloads follow your browser and operating-system settings. If your download folder is synced to cloud storage, the saved file may be copied there by that service even though Rebuildfree processed it locally.

  • Use a filename that distinguishes the result from the original.
  • Check where the browser saved the download.
  • Keep the original until you have opened and checked the result.

Performance and limits

Your device does the work, so speed and capacity depend on its processor, memory and browser. A long scan can take much longer than a short text PDF, particularly when recognising text or compressing images.

Each tool shows its file limits. A document within those limits can still be too much for a device with little free memory. If processing cannot finish, try smaller groups of pages or a device with more available memory.

  • Keep the tab open while a task is running.
  • Use a current desktop browser for large or image-heavy documents.
  • Split a document into smaller batches if the device cannot complete it in one pass.

Finish and check the result

Open the download and check what the task changed: page order after a merge, wording after an edit or copied text after OCR. Use another PDF reader if a feature looks different from the preview.

Local processing does not guarantee an accurate conversion. Compare important names, dates and amounts with the original, and test any links or form fields you need before sharing the file.

  • Check page count and page order.
  • Search and copy a known line when searchable text matters.
  • Inspect changed text, filled fields, signatures and redacted areas.
