Save a PDF without its password

Use the current password to decrypt a PDF and create an unprotected copy. The protected source remains unchanged.

Enter a password you already know

This tool does not recover, guess or bypass a missing password. An incorrect password stops the operation without producing a file. Use it only for a PDF you are authorised to save without protection.

Use the open copy where it is needed

Removing encryption can let you merge a statement with other PDFs or use a printer, preview tool or document system that cannot open protected files.

The new file no longer asks for a password. Save it in a private or approved location if its contents are sensitive, and consider whether an unprotected copy is necessary at all.

Check the unprotected result

Decryption and output checks run in this browser; the password is not sent to Rebuildfree. Open the downloaded PDF without entering a password and check the pages, forms and links you need.

To change an existing password, unlock the PDF, then use Protect PDF on the open copy. Check the new protected file before removing any intermediate unprotected copy.
