Quick fixes for common file and download problems.
Supported browsers
Use the latest version of Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox. Keep the tab open while Rebuildfree works, especially with large files or multiple downloads.
A PDF won’t open
- Check that the file opens in a normal PDF viewer.
- If the PDF is password-protected, use its current password to unlock it. Rebuildfree cannot guess or bypass a missing password.
- Download cloud-only files to the device before selecting them.
- Try a desktop browser if the document is unusually large.
The browser ran out of memory
Document processing can temporarily use several times the file size in memory. Close other large tabs, work with fewer files, or move to a computer with more memory.
A download didn’t appear
Check your browser’s download list and the Downloads folder in your Files app. Your browser may ask where to save a file or request permission for multiple downloads. Allow each download you want to keep.
Check the result
Open the downloaded file in another viewer. Check its page count, order and any names, numbers or areas you changed. Keep the original until you are satisfied with the result.
Questions about files and results
How large a file can I use?
Check the limit on the tool page. For example, the editor accepts one PDF up to 200 pages or 200 MB; Merge accepts 2–20 PDFs up to 120 MB in total; OCR accepts one PDF up to 80 pages or 120 MB. A file within the limit can still exceed the memory available on your device.
Which languages can OCR read?
OCR supports more than 100 languages. Choose the language printed on the page and check copied names, dates and numbers against the image. Unbundled language packs download from jsDelivr; your document is not sent with that request.
Will compression keep every PDF feature?
Balanced first tries to reduce size while keeping the PDF’s structure. Either mode may then save whole pages as images, which can remove selectable text, links and forms. Smaller uses a lower resolution. Check the result summary and the downloaded file. If no smaller result is available, the tool returns the original.
What should I include when asking for help?
Use the contact page and include the tool name, browser, device, approximate file size and what happened. Do not send passwords, payment details or confidential documents.
